The Canopée voted “boat of the year”

The ship Canopée was voted Ship of the year (“ship of the year”) at the Maritime Awards Gala in Rotterdam.

The gala is a celebration of Dutch shipping and features 5 awards:

The “Maritime Achievement Award”

The “Maritime Innovation Award”

The “Maritime Talent Award”

The “Maritime Security Award”

The “Ship of the year” formerly known as “Maritime Award KNVTS Ship of the Year”

The Ship of the Year award recognizes the innovative strength of the Dutch maritime sector in navigation equipment, and integrates all aspects of the other awards.

The assessment focuses on the extent to which design, technology, safety, construction and economic importance come together in an innovative vessel: the pinnacle of the Dutch maritime sector.

The Dutch shipyard Neptune Marine was awarded the prize in 2023 for the Canopée.

It’s also a great reward for all the teams who worked on the project (Alizés, the joint venture between Zéphyr & Borée and Jifmar Offshore Services, AYRO, Groot Ship Design, VPLP Design…). It’s a sign that shipping is ready to welcome the wind back into its propulsion systems..
